On December 29, the Kazan International Airport named after Gabdulla Tukai saw a literally historic event – for the first time in the history of civil aviation of the Republic of Tatarstan, the airport exceeded 4 million passengers served in a year. Thus, the airport has moved into a more highly competitive and high-status category of airports.
During the Kazan - St. Petersburg flight check-in of Nordwind Airlines, the airport representatives addressed an unsuspecting passenger with a surprising message. As it turned out, Elena Vedrova, a resident of Kirov, started a new era for the airport – a way to 5 million passengers. The jubilee passenger was presented with souvenirs, a service certificate for airport lounge and a certificate for a free flight from the airline.
Sergey Romantsov, General Director, Kazan International Airport:
«A significant increase in passenger traffic was achieved largely due to the work to expand the route network and increase the number of flights to existing destinations. Thus, this year we have significantly expanded our partnership with one of the largest airlines in Russia – Nordwind Airlines has become the main airline company for Kazan Airport, and has also multiplied the number of departures from Kazan.».
Anton Mattis, Deputy General Director, Director Commercial, Nordwind:
«In winter, Nordwind Airlines operates flights to 13 destinations from Kazan Airport, and in the upcoming summer period we plan to expand the flights to such destinations as Gorno-Altaysk, Vladikavkaz, Krasnoyarsk, Barnaul and Tehran. In addition, we will increase the frequency of flights to existing destinations due to high demand. We thank our passengers for choosing our airline and are welcoming you on Nordwind board.»
