At 08:20 AM (Moscow time) on April 16, 2018 the new terminal of Simferopol airport received its first guests, who happened to be the passengers of Nordwind flight N4-123 from Moscow (Sheremetyevo).
The first passenger of the airport was Svetlana Kovrizhkina travelling with her husband and daughter. Sergey Aksionov, Head of the Crimea, and Evgeniy Plaksin, Director General of LLC “Simferopol International Airport”, awaited her in the arrival area. Svetlana received memorable gifts and a certificate for free business class lounge service. The airline presented the first passenger of the new terminal a free flight to Moscow.

“Today we have opened a new page in the history of our airport and the whole Crimea. From this day all departing and arriving flights will be handled in the new terminal. The past 22 months were really challenging – we managed to construct the airport building unparalleled throughout Russia. We endeavored to push the handling of our passengers and partners to all-new quality level in order for the Crimea to welcome its guests in a new, beautiful, convenient and comfortable terminal. We do hope that the passengers will appreciate our effort, effort of the builders, architects, designers and all employees of the airport. The opening of the new terminal of Simferopol airport symbolizes the development of the region and a step in the future made side by side with our passengers, with the Crimea.”

Nordwind Airlines is in TOP-10 Russian airlines in terms of passenger turnover. Its flight geography includes 200 destinations to Russian cities and foreign countries. The scheduled flights are performed from Sheremetyevo airport.
In 2017 Nordwind created the widest network of flights from Simferopol airport – 27 Russian cities now have direct scheduled air connection.
The number of passengers transported by scheduled flights for year 2017 is 3.5 times larger than in year 2016, i.e. more than 3.5 mln. passengers.
The airline’s fleet comprises 22 aircraft of the following types: Boeing 737, Boeing 777, Airbus A330 and Airbus A321.
