Families and children

Departure of infant children from Russian territory shall be regulated by the laws of Russian Federation. Infant child shall leave territory of Russian Federation with at least one parent, foster parent, fiduciary or tutor. Should the minor citizen of the Russian Federation leave the Russian Federation unaccompanied, he shall in addition to passport for travelling abroad be in possession of a notarized statement of consent of above mentioned persons for exit of minor citizen with indication of duration of exit and country that he intends to visit.

Children from 2 to 12 years old can travel by air only when accompanied by an adult passenger or legally capable person which has full legally capability in accordance with civil law of the Russian Federation prior to the age of 18.

Food

In case when the guaranteed meal is provided at the flight and the request (pre-order) was made at least 48 hours prior to departure, child may be provided with baby foods (BBML). Should a prior request be not made when booking the ticket, children of up to 2 years old (without individual place) shall not be provided with meals on board. Passengers travelling with children up to 2 years old shall not be placed on board near emergency exits and safety equipment.

Baby food necessary for feeding the child in flight is allowed to be carried in hand luggage. Water is subject to restrictions, the volume is not more than 100 ml.

Baggage

For the children aged less than 2-years old, travelling without separate seat on board it is allowed to have a baggage for the flight:

  • Baggage: 1 piece of baggage not heavier than 10 kg and the three dimensions total not more than 203 cm

Baby carriage

A baby carriage, including light weight completely folding stroller carried in luggage compartment of the aircraft as registered baggage in excess of established rate. Passenger can use the carriage before landing on board the aircraft. Carriage is obligatory transferred for loading into the luggage compartment just before boarding aircraft.

Places for passengers with children

For the flight safety reasons it is forbidden to arrange the seating of adults accompanied by infants below 18 years of age (including 18YOA) near the aircraft emergency exits.

A passenger with an infant below 2YOA is seated on board of the aircraft together with one family member/close relative or next to another adult passenger, who accompanies the passenger with an infant.

If the accompanying adults are seated separately upon their request, then the adults, accompanying an infant younger than 2YO, must inform the check-in agent during the check-in, which one of them should be seated with a child on the board of an aircraft.

An infant/child with separate seat (age 0 – 12YOA) is seated next to one of the accompanying adults at one seat row (seats block). No more than one child aged below 2 and not issued a separate ticket could be seated in the same seat block in the cabin, consisting of two, three or four seats next to each other.
Where the number of adjacent passenger seats in one row is less than the required number of seats for seating children under 12 and the passenger accompanying them, the closest seats shall be provided subject to the consent of the passenger accompanying the child and flight safety requirements.
If an adult accompanies more than one infant (child under 2 y.o.), the second and other infants shall be accepted for ransportation only if the passenger provides child restaint and purchases separate seats for the second and other infants.

Child/infant-constraint devices

Upon condition that the separate seat for a child was booked and paid for, the passenger seat-mounted, aircraft-certified portable child seat equipped with seat belts can be taken to the aircraft’s board as a restraint system.

The infant-restraint system should be located next to the aircraft window, not to hinder the evacuation of other passengers. It is allowed to locate the infant-restraint system at the central block of seats, upon condition that the device does not block the exit to the aisle to the passengers, seated at this block of seats:

  • with a configuration of two seats - any (1) seat
  • with a configuration of three seats – one (1) middle seat
  • with a configuration of four seats – two (2) middle seats

In case if one passenger accompanies second, third and consequent children with separate seat, it is obligatory to use child-restraint or other restraint systems on them.

The passengers who are members of a family, transporting more than one child-restraint (infant-restraint) systems, can be seated at the next seats at the central block of seats only, providing that their itinerary was issued in one single booking.

Transportation of pregnant women shall be carried out under general conditions if made not later than 4 weeks before the assumed delivery date. It is desirable to provide medical conclusion confirming satisfactory state for pregnant women expecting delivery within next 4 weeks, or if possible complications might be anticipated due to multiple fetation or pathologies. The passengers of this category shall be admitted to transportation on condition that transporter is not responsible for eventual negative consequences for mother or fetus to be confirmed by the passenger signing a respective obligation. Medical certification shall be formalized not earlier than 7 days before the flight.

For the flight safety reasons it is prohibited to seat pregnant women at the aircraft emergency exits rows.

Unaccompanied minors mean children accepted for a flight without their parents or other guardians and none of the passengers was assigned a role of accompanying passenger.

Age restrictions

  • domestic flights: from 5 to 12 years
  • International flights: from 5 to 12 years
  • by request of parents: from 12 to 16 years

Children under the age of 5 are not accepted for transportation as unaccompanied children.

Minor is accepted for carriage without an adult passenger accompanying

On domestic flights:

  • Ticket
  • Identity document: birth certificate - for children under 14 years old / passport - for children over 14 years of age
  • Preliminary agreement of carrier for carriage of unaccompanied minor
  • «Agreement for carriage of an unaccompanied minor»
  • Medical certificate on the state of health of the child (if necessary)

On international flights:

  • Ticket
  • Identity document: foreign passport
  • Preliminary agreement of carrier for carriage of unaccompanied minor
  • «Agreement for carriage of an unaccompanied minor» executed by a parent/warden (lawful representative)
  • Notarized agreement for international flight of unaccompanied minor without escort, indicating the time of departure and the country

Rules for travel documents issuance:

  • In order to issue an air ticket for an unaccompanied minor you can ask the partner agencies, air ticket offices, airport ticket offices or send a request by e-mail: n4@nordwindairlines.ru
  • Request for «Preliminary agreement of carrier for carriage of unaccompanied minor» is issued in partner agencies when you buy a ticket. (at least 24 hours prior to the departure)
  • «The consent for the unaccompanied minor transportation service» / or handling advice for unaccompanied minor is issued by the Carrier’s representative (agent) at the departure airport 3 hours prior the flight departure based on scheduled time.
  • Both documents should be prepared by one of the parents, lawful guardian (or other legal representative of a child)*

    * «The consent to transport the unaccompanied minor» document can be issued by the child’s legal guardians (parents, adoptive parents, legal guardians or child’s custodians).
    In case if an adult, who is not a legal guardian of the child, accompanies this child in the airport it is necessary for him/her to demonstrate the original of the notarized document from the legal representatives of a child, with confirmation of the authority for the this adult to execute the specified agreement (power of attorney, consent of the parent).

Transportation of unaccompanied minors is carried out only:

  • The flights are operated in the airports, where the Carrier’s representatives or agents are located
  • It is a direct flight of the Carrier, one leg flight until the destination point
  • The child will be picked up at the arrival airport
  • The transportation of an unaccompanied child is possible in any class of service with issuance of a plane ticket at the affordable fare of any available fare brand (without any child discount) and payment of an additional fee for the transportation of an unaccompanied child service

The allocation of unaccompanied minors on board performed on basis of the following criteria:

  • It is forbidden to place children near emergency exits
  • A flight attendant can supervise the child and render care during the flight
  • Unaccompanied minors shall not be seated near an adult male

Check-in of unaccompanied minors cannot be performed through airline’s web-site.

Accompanying minor must remain at departure airport before actual departure of the aircraft.

The cost of the service depends on the flight date and the fare for the issued tickets. Please call the Airlines contact center for details.

  • For a flight between the cities in Russia: from 4 100 to 9 200 ₽
  • For an international flight: from € 48/ $ 53 to € 116/ $ 136

The service return&refund:

  • more than 4-х часов prior the flight departure – possible/refundable
  • 4 hours and less until the flight departure – the return is allowed only simultaneously with the cancellation of tickets, or is made as a claim procedure

Fee prices in US dollars are valid only for transportation from locations in Iran, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Egypt, Thailand, Israel, China, Cuba, Vietnam, Dominican Republic, Mexico, countries of the Western Hemisphere.
Fee price in Euro is for all other countries.
